Found this little gem while searching the web for any possible Cavalier news.
The team that comes to mind is the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland would jump at the chance to have AI and they have the disposable salary to do it. A trade with the expiring salaries of Wally Szczerbiak ($13.0M), Joe Smith ($4.8M), Delonte West ($2.8) in addition to JJ Hickson ($1.3M) and future draft picks could seal the deal.
When the whole possibility of AI on his way out of denver popped up I was the first one on the band wagon. I've been a fan of AI's game for quite a while now and the possibility of him playing in Philly just made sense to me. He's always been a Cavalier killer throughout his career holding 5 Quicken Loans arena single game scoring stats. -Most points in a game(54) January 6, 2001 -Most points in a half(39) April 12, 1997 -Most points in a quarter(23) April 12, 1997 -Most field goals made in a game(20) January 6, 2001 -Most field goals made in a half(13) April 12, 1997
Anyways, the point I'm making is that I'm willing to give up a lot if it means bringing him here. The trade idea above is a little much I think, I don't want to give up Smith and Hickson, but if you pull those guys out and put AV and another pick in there I wouldn't stutter to make that deal.
Maybe this article was already posted somewhere, it was made 6 days ago so that's possible, but I just like it that some one outside of Cleveland thinks that we have a shot at landing him. Probably just wishful thinking, but it makes me happy to picture AI in a Cavs uniform.

I also think we should throw Sasha in to the deal somehow, that way there won't be any fuss over #3. I definitely wouldn't make the deal though if we had to give them Hickson. All this is obviously just wishful thinking but I really want AI.

even though he is a very good player no way that we give them hickson and west...he has a horrible contract (fortunately it expires next season) and he is already 33

Why trade away all our expirings, JJ and future picks (basically everything that is a valuable trade asset to us) for an aging Iverson who we're unlikely to re-sign anyway after next year?

I don't think we're interested. And rightly so.
Why? To win a championship! And if we did do good with AI we'd likely resign him.
Plus everyone's saying they don't like it because Hickson's involved. I'm saying Hickson doesn't have to be involved. I don't think Ferry would trade Hickson anyway. If we put AV and a pick instead of Hickson and Joe I think Philly would still accept it.
We have to use our expirings on something, why not on a 9 time all-star who's 3rd alltime for career ppg behind only Wilt and Michael. His contract isn't bad at all, it expires after next year, I think a 20 mill expiring is pretty valuable. If he doesn't work out then just trade him at the deadline for Gerald Wallace or something.

AI would help this team to not only over come the bump they need to but itll keep lebron happy to and really isnt that kinda the point of trying to get players in here?
That's a lot to give up and it would screw us in the long run, but it would definitely put us in a position to win it all this year. LeBron and AI would be pretty deadly together. It would also improve our defense.
I wouldn't do it because we're not that far away right now. But if we made the trade, I wouldn't be disappointed.

Exaclty if he doesnt work out, we just don't resign him and have like 20+mil on our hands.
Originally posted by King Of Akron: man thats a nice trade minus hickson. so yeah i like it. but if we did give up hickson and an extra pick we could maybe add in J.R. Smith
That would be sweet if we can nab Smith away from them too.

ya for sure and im not completely sold that hickson is going to be that great anyway where as JR is already pretty good so hed be great to nab away. Does anyone know about his contract (expires, how much).

No offense to LeBron, but he is kinda a ballhog too IMO.
I dont know how this would work because of that, maybe LBJ gets less minutes and AI plays point when LBJ is out. They can alternate point guard when both in, and Boobie (west if we keep him) can run some of the point guard too.
It's a big risk. It could be the best 1-2 punch in the game right now, or we can have 2 ballhogs, an unhappy AI and LeBron, a 1st round exit, and no all-stars in 2011.
Depending on what we give up, I'll take the risk on him.
