we'll know tomorrow, but the monsters (and the rest of the AHL) need to submit their postseason rosters of 22 players. this should be interesting, especially since recall, injury and suspension are the only valid reasons to sub on the list, but that's been the big challenge to this club all season.
of course if they can't scrape a few points soon, it won't matter anyway.

Standing 16 points behind a red hot Hamilton team for the final playoff spot, I think it's a nonissue. But the team has come together very nicely since early in the season, so it gives me a lot of hope for next year.

Let us speculate anyways.
First we will start at goalie (Which right now is a tough call)
I am going to say Weiman & Bacashihua but Wall has been playing well of late, very well. So 2 of those 3 are on the roster
That leaves 20.
Healy & Smith are givens as well as Hensick, Jones, Stewart, Boychuk and Purinton's experience.
Richardson, Kelly, Vernace, Denisov, DUPUIS, Margeson, Jillson, Love, Lundmark, O'Neill.
Leaving 3 spots for the following players...
Macias, McCutcheon, DaSilva, Roche, Burki, Straub and Corbin.
McCutcheon Heathy, stays, so 2 left. JD Definitely Deserving so that leaves 1.
DaSilva has been playing well and Macias has been improving, I love Burki's speed and Kenny Roche is a great guy and loves to play. Straub is going back down and Campbell is out for the year.
They could also carry 3 goalies which I don't see...

Am I correct in my understanding that the cut to 22 is not only for possible playoffs bur for remainder of regular season?? Looks like they've got 27 on roster currently. C-ya to 5 guys.

Yes, that is correct, I didn't realize that. Wonder who stays and who goes. Purinton may not be added and Love isn't done with his VISA problems.

it isn't absolute. they could send guys to johnstown and call them up to fill in for dale when he's suspended, or whomever when hurt, etc.

its a long shot for us to make the playoffs, we are 18 points away from 3rd and the 3rd place is the last playoff spot in the north division, so we can speculate all we want, it doesnt matter. it was a fun first season and i am looking forward to next season but to think about the post season right now, is just absurd.
the only way this team can make the playoffs is if they went on a tear and won most of the rest of their games and the other teams ahead of them just decided to take a crap.

It looks like Straub and Roche were already sent down...curious question though... if Jones isn't back with Lake Erie today, can he still be on the roster?? While I wish him the best in Colorado, I miss him here! I hope he comes back sometime before the end of the season!

He played last night for the AVS.

Of the 23 players currently on the roster, there are 3 goalies and 10 defencemen. Purinton is suspended and Burki is on the IR. Do you think they will keep 10 D when everyone is back and only 10 forwards?

Kept Wall and put Bacashihua on the 'in residence' list. That's a move I will never figure out. Wall has been playing well, but there is a huge difference in talent between those 2. When Cash is in goal, you are usually never more than 1 goal behind. CAn't even say that about Tyler. Only 2 of Cash's losses are by more than1 goal.
We all know that in the playoffs (Althought we aren't making them) You need goalies that keep the puck out of the net...

We're only 12 points out of a playoff spot correct? Syracuse is in 4th and we have 4 games in hand on them, so if we win those games in hand, we're only 4 points out of a playoff spot.

the fifth place team in the West Division crosses over to the North and takes the fourth seed if they have more points than that team. Right now, seven of the eight teams in the West meet the qualification. This is done since the West has one more club than the North with that eighth team.

So, the Monsters are chasing third place Hamilton, who they sit 18 points behind with two games in hand.

So Cash is on the "in residence" list, yet he has played in each of the last two games.

yea..i dont get it either...how is cash "in residence" but has still played this weekend?

I don't think that we will get Jones back for the playoffs if we go. Svatos and Smyth are both out indefinately.
