Just a heads up for you guys out in wherever "Lake Erie" is. I'm guessing Cleveland because of the registration I just completed. I'll have to check after this post...

Anyway, Jeff Friesen should be suiting up soon. He said he was going to the Avs AHL team, but he didn't know what team that was.

The Lake Erie Monsters are Clevelands AHL Team, correct. Where did you get this information about Jeff Friesen and can you back it up with a link to some media about this or is it just a rumor. I hope you are right, we sure need some more help here.

I skated with him Friday and he said he was leaving the next day to head to Colorado's minor league team for conditioning.

So I guess that would fall into your "rumor" category. I was surprised to have not seen anything online yet.

Thats awesome that they signed Frisen. Now I'm not very familiar with the aspects of a Professional Tryout (PTO) contract, but I do hope he gets to work closely with the monsters and I hope to see much improvement over the next couple of weeks.

GO LEM

As far as I know, a PTO allows a player to play on a team for up to 30 games. After that the player must be signed to a SPC (Standard Players Contract) or released. The Barons did this several years ago with Jason Jaffray. Jason played his 30 in Cleveland, showcasing himself for the rest of the league, then signed with Vancouver (Manitoba) upon his release. Jason is now playing in the NHL!

he will only be with the team for this homestand, then colorado will assess his worth and he will either get a standard contract and play for colorado or given an outright release. whick sucks cuz we could use some more veteran help on this team but with the ahl rule stating that you're not allowed to dress no more than 5 veterans at a time he will probably not be here long. glad to have him here while he is here though.
