Official 2/15/08 Game Thread - Monsters at Griffins
Lake Erie Monsters (18-22-4-6) at Grand Rapids Griffins (20-25-2-5) Date: Friday, February 15th Time: 7:00 p.m. ET Arena: Van Andel Arena Radio: Listen live here to ESPN 850 WKNR Webcast: Live through B2
Friday's Quick Facts: The Monsters are in the middle of playing three games in as many days. Tonight is also the first of a five-game road trip. Lake Erie will return home to The Q on February 27th.
In defeating the Hershey Bears last night, Lake Erie inched to within just one point of tonight's opponent, the Griffins, in the North Division. With a win tonight, the Monsters would jump ahead of Grand Rapids and take the fifth spot in the standings for the first time this season.
The two teams have already met five times this season, with the Griffins leading the series, 2-3. The Monsters are looking for their first win in Michigan. Most recently, the Griffins were in Cleveland last weekend for a back-to-back, which the teams split.
Mike Wall has won two straight in goal for Lake Erie, and four of his last seven. He has started seven straight for the Monsters.

Melissa, MIKE has played 7 games in a row. You know I am not a fan, but hey, he is tired and now "Cash" is in a rehab stint in Johnstown & Weiman is recovered and being sent back(Looking over his shoulder a little?). He has always been decent spelling either one of those 2 but No goalie is very good on a 2nd night of a back to back especially when the first night was home and the 2nd night is away after a 6 hour bus ride. We were short missing Jones and Richardson hadn't shown up yet so no real offense to keep the puck out of the zone enough. (No excuses but tough night for any goalie to maintain) They really should have given PENNER the start. It may be that Wall will be sent down and they wanted to reward him with another start before everyone else is healthy.

i also agree that its very tough for a goalie to play 7 games in a row. i do think penner should have started and im kinda hoping he starts tonight. i still dont think mike is going to be sent down. but hey who knows. i do hope jillson gets sent down though. lol
Well I did like the dallas cowboys cheerleaders and the chuck a puck.I think Kenny Rocche did do good against grand rapids so did Mitch Love.I think the monsters will make the playoffs they are doing pretty good on their first season.GO MONSTERS

okay, first the monsters will not make the playoffs, its been a fun season thus far and am enjoying it and cant wait until next season. only the top 4 teams in each division go to the playoffs but since there are 8 teams in the west division only the top 3 in the north get to go to the playoffs and if the 5th place team in the west has a better points record than the 4th place team in the north than they go to the playoffs, so for the monsters to get to the playoffs, they will need to win the rest of their games and i dont even think that will be enough.
