Why were we like sitting in CHURCH Tuesday Night? The Monsters killed off numerous penalties, a 5 on 3 for almost 2 full minutes, a 5 minute MAJOR to start the 3rd and still, NO ENERGY FANS.
You need to get a grip folks, we need more noise at HOME. People don't understand the game and nuances of the game. WEIMAN was 3rd Star last night in an OT LOSS. THE GOALIE, do you realize what we seen? IS ANYONE PAYING ATTENTION? These guys are working their collective derriers off and we sit on our hands. Friesen is a man amongst boys. To see him play was a PLEASURE, just INCREDIBLE! WAKE UP CLEVELAND, we do have HOCKEY and it is EXCITING...

I was at the game and agree that there was very little fan energy. Part of that has to do with the fact that the attendance was so small, but part of it was the Monsters' overall lack of effort, too. You're right that a few guys were skating hard, but the majority of the team looked flat. Sacco even said it in the paper this morning (either the PD or the News-Herald...can't remember which). It's hard to get excited when you're in a mostly empty building watching a team that clearly isn't getting 100% from all of its players.
Attendance is one big reason. ****, there were only three Mon-Squad girls there last night too. It was dead all around. I also think there is a level of frustration watching us on the power play and instead of taking the shots we spend minutes passing the puck around. It's like everyone is setting up to make a play but they never make it. It sucks the excitement out of the game.
I was there last night too, I thought it'd be pretty crowded with alot of Jackets fans there, but that wasn't the case. Didn't help that it was kind of a boring game too. Hopefully Saturday night is better.
that's what's killing it. if you're going to have $26 seats, have dollar beers. have dollar seats and $5 beers. it's not hard to pack an arena, even on a weeknight, but you can't do it in this economy at these prices.

Ned in case you haven't noticed, the AHL is a weekend league. Very few teams in this league draw during the week it has nothing to do with the prices.

$26 for a seat does sound pricey though for minor league...unless they are good seats.
Maybe they should try something like the Columbus Clippers do with beer. Buy a 44 ounce souvenir cup, filled with beer...then on designated nights, you can bring the cup with you to the games and get it refilled for a lot less than the normal price.

it's hard to draw on weeknights, but at these prices for such a lowly ranked team, i'm surprised they can draw flies.
i'd love to see the office get creative and offer super cheap seats for a tuesday night game just once and see what happens. i'm talking like $2 seats for the ends and $5 for club. and then throw another STH party to make up for the devaluing of the seats.

Wow, on the club level it is $26 seats and $6.50 for a beer..

Cleveland is a tough town to draw a crowd for losers (oops ) I meant losing teams, Look at the Indians for example. they get a new free stadium (on the beer drinkers and smokers), a few playoffs then the world series, comes to town, they had sellout crowds from the stadiums opening day til the new owner sells off all the high priced contracts that got them to the series, no playoffs , no more sellouts at the ball park. Browns and Cavaliers? Same deals, new stadiums for free. old Cavs owners had the WNBA here and sold about 8000 on average for the home games and then he had a choice to pay for LeBron or the girls BBall team. Bye Bye 8000 paid ticket for the summer time home games. But LeBron fills the house and he has taken them to the playoffs. Clevelanders will only attend and keep attending if you give them a winner. Yes I am a season ticket holder who will not come downtown on a week day to watch them LOSE!

this was the browns' first winning season in a long while. the browns used to sell out the old muni stadium, even when they lost. between real fans and ticket agents, you can't get a browns ticket at face value once the season starts.
now the indians is another story. i remember going to the old stadium in the late 70s/early 80s and having a whole section to my self. when the venue seats 80k and attendance is around 2-4k, that's a lot of empty seats.
i wonder what game had the best attendance figures. i'm guessing it was blanket night. they ran radio ads for that game.
