I thought I saw somewhere that Love was a UFA this offseason and Im hoping that Colorado will resign him. He shouldnt be too expensive but even more importantly than money he was a good leader on and off the ice and hes a fan favorite. He stood up for his teammates, played a solid PK, and was aggresive. Hes knows hes not the best but he still gives 100% and has shown improvement from the beginning of the year. Whatever happens though I wish him luck and thankful for his efforts on and off the ice here in Cleveland.

i think he is already gone, i think colorado did not give him a contract for this upcoming season. he could still sign an ahl contract but i dont think that is going to happen.
i'm pretty sure i read that mitch love is not coming back on the av's website (message board probably)

I haven't heard any news that he has been signed with anyone yet. So it's always possible we bring him in at the last minute, but it looks highly doubtful. I heard that Sakic and Forsberg are both coming back to the Avs next year (Sakic wants to play until the 2010 Olympics in his home province).

That means players that would normally be moved up to play in the Avs will now be part of the LEMS (Better for us). But also leaves fewer slots to grab free-agents with.

Both should have retired. Forsberg has become a glassjaw and Sakic provides leadership, but not much on ice compared to 10 years ago.

i agree as well, forsberg has lost it and needs to retire, sakic as well, he has a little gas left in the tank, but should hang em up. chelios is another he needs to hang em up, there this way i won't be impartial to just the av's, now sundin has more to offer.

The best thing Chelios could do is take a two way contract for little money and be a healthy scratch as often as possible. He wants to play with his son in some capacity. I was glad he got pulled in the cup run towards the end. He's had a great career, but nothing lasts forever.

i understand who wouldnt want to play with their kid side by side in the nhl.
i dont think he would want to sigh a two way contract, he should hang em up and become a coach or take a front office job, something to keep him in the game just not on the ice. he's had a helluva career and will or should probably get into the hall of fame but sometimes you just gotta say enough is enough.
i too was glad they scratched him in the cup finals.

He could be a real asset in player development if he took a semi-retirement and played in grand rapids for a few years. It might help Detroit's cap issues as well. I don't think they'll be able to pay anyone on that team what they're worth if they hold the team together for much longer.

but that's the beauty of detroit, its not just a job for the guys that play for the red wings, its like a tiny family and everyone respects each other, look @ hossa they offered him considerably less than what he is worth on the open market but he decided to go with detroit take a pay cut possibly win a cup with them and go on from there and if he does decide to fly, they have enough in cap space to pay zetteberg and anyone else who is going to be up for ufa next season.
that would be a good position for him, player development or even assistant coach to babs, who knows anyways we kinda got sidetracked since this is a mitch love thread. he probably wont be here this upcoming season so dont be shocked if he's not in the lineup.
