This has been makeing me mad for awhile now. i have been threw this with the lumber jacks when i was younger and now with the monsters. I LOVE hockey but i get so mad when i open the plain dealer and see this. I have noticed that when the monsters lose there is like a whole page on it. as soon as you open the paper there it is. But now that were playing as a team, and winning some theres only a small paragraph on like page 11. Theres like 3 senteces about a win. and a whole page about a lose. I dont understand what the paper is trying to get at...If we want the monsters to have a following we need the paper to be more excited about a win. I understand that the browns and cavs and indians will be 1st. But lets get some more GOOD things in the paper about the monsters.

they need to dedicate one writer to cover the Monsters. I'm a Caps fan, and it's hard enough getting newspaper coverage of them, but since there is one writer at each of the top two papers assigned to the Caps, it's gotten much better. The LA Times even has two full time writers who cover the Kings, one doing mostly opinion pieces, and she's the best. It's nothing to pick up a Canadian paper and find 4 or 5 articles on hockey every day. WHile I don't think there's that level of interest here, it's a good model to shoot for.

I have been beating the PD up over this for quite some time. When I finally do get feedback they say if the interest is there they will cover it. Well PD the interest is clearly there 9,100 last night and they won.

There were no other Cleveland teams playing last night, lets see what the PD sports looks like today as far as Monsters coverage goes.

No photo in todays Plain Dealer, thats lousy. Why couldn't they send a photographer down to the Q to cover the game last night? With no other Cleveland teams playing last night thats a joke.

i think years of IHL hockey kinda set cleveland back. The IHL was a parallel league to the NHL. the AHL is the premiere minor league, and it's developmental. this deserves coverage rather than the second place league that people dropped into by and large.

the akron beacon journal gives the akron aeros good coverage, and they're AA. the PD is a cra*ppy paper, but still.

this does not bode well for the gladiators. most people don't seem to know cleveland has a hockey team due to the poor coverage (leading to a lack of interest, leading to less coverage). will anyone show up to see the gladiators?

My guess is that they will give The Gladiators good coverage. The PD has always done a horrible job of covering Cleveland Hockey in their sports section. The treat is like its not even a sport.
