I am from Rochester, NY and wanted to let you know what amazing fans the monsters have. At a recent game in Syracuse, few guys in Monsters jersey saw us and made it a point to say hello. We were the only 3 people that weren't with the booster club cheering for the monsters. We also made our first trip to cleveland and had a fantastic time. The arena, fans and the city in general was great. With our team future being uncertain, i just wanted to let the monster fans know that even though this first season was great, they have alot to be proud of. Thanks again and see you next season.
you're teams future? rochester? are they looking to relocate? or... they are one of the old teams in the league (hershey being the eldest) and would be a travesty if they ever left rochester. that is nice to say, i am from cleveland and was very impressed with the crowds @ the games. i am proud that hockey is back and hopefully they will stay this time around.
well i hope they dont lose their team, that would be a travesty. hopefully next season they will be tougher (not to say they are not now) with only having a single affiliation. teams in this league jump around from city to city and i hate that, i understand having your ahl club close to the parent club to save in travel costs but...
welcome aboard kimber. i sincerely hope the amerks hang in there. a cleveland/rochester rivalry would be great to have again. it hasn't existed in my lifetime, but i'd welcome it.

Things aren't looking good in Rochester. Our Mayor has said that if the present owner doesn't sell, they will not lease the arena to the Amerks. The ahl is also saying that if an agreement is not reached by this sunday, there will not be hockey in rochester next year. A team that has been around for 50 years, is very likely to not play next year. Pretty sad. Buffalo has ended their affiliation with us and Florida has threatened to. The owner of the amerks also owns our indoor lacrosse team (knighthawks). The knighthawks would cease existance too. Our soccer team (Rhinos), which was owned by the same idiot, was just sold last week. So the owner will let 2 teams not play, than give up control. I have been going to games since i was 5, and i think in all that time i have missed maybe 15 games. So just in case we don't have hockey here next year, i will count on you all to keep me updated on the Monsters.
sure thing! i hope the amerks can and will play next season. 50 years + in one city and now in jeopardy of losing their team that really blows cant somebody just buy the team from the owner now and keep the team in town or... well i hope you guys have a team next year and if you don't come aboard with us. KEEP THE AMERICANS IN ROCHESTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like they are going to be sold, and this time-line stuff is more bark than bite, but we'll see. The Amerks might be better with a new owner that has some money to spend.
I'm sure they'll stay in Rochester, but if they can't get the sale completed in time, they might not play next year. That would suck, but it's not unusual for any team, or even the entire NHL. It sucks, but it happens.
Oh... There is a rivalry already between the Monsters and Amerks... at least with the Stewart brothers! It's fun watching them out on the ice. I believe Chris has the edge...
we've got 3 rivalries going on right now, grand rapids (of course), syracuse, i'm not so sure about rochester but yeah okay. the stewart brothers definitly have a rivalry, me and my brother used to go after each other when we played, so their is some sibling rivalry there.
anthony stewart has never had a good game on monster ice.
sorry to hear that buffalo ended the affiliation. that was a great regional tie-in (like the indians and akron aeros). i do hope that the amerks will be on ice next semester. it's one team we can usually beat!

The latest news is that the ahl has extended the date to May 6 for rochester to get everything together. But the City of Rochester will not lease the arena to the amerks if Steve Donner is majority owner or runs the team. If a lease isn't signed and we can't play at Blue Cross Arena, we don't have a season next year. There isn't another arena around here. As far as the rivalry between Chris and Anthony Stewart, Chris is definitely tougher. The only thing that Anthony hits is the ice when he falls. He was benched last week for lack of effort. We have alot of young guys that have alot of potential, they just need the chance, which means we need a team next year. If our team doesn't play next year, do the monsters offer a 10 or 20 game package? Think good thoughts and i will keep you posted.
i think next year they have a 20 game package, for this season they had a 15 game package. hopefully they can find a new owner and get a lease for the arena, i would love to see the amerks play next season.
That would be a shame to lose a great hockey city like Rochester. I can't believe Buffalo cut ties, that always seemed like a good fit. I always enjoyed when the Americans came to town. Always seemed to have a good rivalry with the more recent Barons, and my dad talks about the old Baron and Rochester. I remember when I first fot into hockey thinking how cool those american flag jerseys were. Good luck to ytou Amerks Kimber! We'll all be pullin for ya...We know what its like to lose a team. Although it was only 5 years, not 50 it still sucks.

well i gope rochester stays. its such a shame because i enjoyed watchin them play the monsters. ive become a huge anhtony stewart fan as well as chris and yes i still love my jillson. but the americans have become my 2nd fav ahl team. and it would be ashame cause the team is or at least should be highly respectable. good luck kimber...than ks for the nice things about cleveland.

Thanks everyone for your kind words about the amerks. Nothing new to report. I have made my decision that if we don't play next year, i will be attended a few games it Cleveland. I have to support mr. Jillson. Katie, as for being and anthony stewart fan, everyone has their own opinion. I know that he has the talent, i just wish that he would show it more often on the ice. If Rochester plays next year, we will have Florida as our sole affiliate and Anthony will be here again. Keep your fingers crossed and keep me posted on they monsters. Thanks everyone.
