I'm not sure it's a good fit because the Knicks already put up big numbers, but their team is allergic to playing defense. Plus they need a good point guard to run MD's system and push the ball. Who are they gonna use? Marbury? Nate Robinson?
Yeah, that was a stupid decision on their part. Curry and Randolph are gonna have a really hard time adjusting to this fast-paced offense. They should've addressed their concern for defense though, when hiring a new coach.
I do not see this as a bad signing at all. NY seems to be cleaning out the trash and gearing for a fresh start. New York has loads of talent, so I would look for a fire sale this summer. For the right package, I see teams out there that would want Randolph or Curry. Starbury will probably have to be given away or bought out. Once they trim the fat, it all kind of makes sense. D'Antoni is a proven winner, though not in the playoffs, and New York fans will drool over the run and gun play.

Actually, I think this is great news, because LeBron knows that he'll never win in a defenseless D'Antoni-like system. And LeBron needs to win more than he needs a big city.
